Hikvision Canada hosted a customer appreciation event under the theme Colour of Innovation at its new headquarters in Mississauga, Ont. on June 2.

Hikvision took this opportunity to exhibit its new ColorVu G2, Solar Power and TandemVu colour cameras inside its interactive showroom.

Company leaders, Hikvision’s partners and clients gathered in the midst of large screens, cameras and smart-home technology displays.

Hikvision’s senior product manager Roy Zhang hovered by the showroom’s entrance near a live display of the facial recognition technology on several large smartscreens.

“This is a good opportunity for us to showcase existing offerings to the Canadian market and what is coming up on our roadmap,” said Zhang, adding that Hikvision invited long-term clients as well as potential new clients to the exhibit.

Jamie Howse, owner of In Howse Entertainment Ltd. flew in from Dartmouth, N.S. to get a first and close glance at Hikvision’s latest offerings.

“They have done an absolutely wonderful job. They’ve got products here that I didn’t even know about,” he said.

Howse leads a team of seven people at his company which oversees the audio, video, structure, cabling and security of at least 100 residential homes and some commercial properties in Halifax.

His projects require him and his team to work in areas where electrical systems and wiring have yet to be established, so he was particularly enthralled by Hikvision’s solar-powered, cellular surveillance camera.

“That’s going to be a big seller for me. I have been waiting for that for a long time.”

Hikvision also included an exhibit of smart home products from EZVIZ, a subsidiary of the company.

The smart home sensor kit includes a smart button, an open and close sensor, PIR sensor and home gateway.

As Hikvision’s representatives explained to attendees, users can easily pair the items of the kit with their home wi-fi or internet connection. They can install the items anywhere using the peel and stick elements on the devices. Users can manage all features of the various devices offered through the kit on the EZVIZ app.

Domenic Rozzi of Safelink, a distributor of security products to retail businesses and residences, said these sort of products offer the best solution for his clients.

“Not having to run any wires or anything like that is a great solution for wireless and it’s good for any residential and commercial business.”

In accord with Hikvision’s theme of colour and innovation, Toronto-based caterer Sweet Event set up a colourful arrangement of donuts, candies, cookies and macaroons.
